Negotiations on the SPS agreement are still ongoing; they are expected to conclude in early summer. Until a conclusion is reached, UK will follow a model of dynamic alignment with the EU for biocides and pesticides, meaning that GB would adopt EU rules on biocides from the point of entry into force. Considering “ozone generated from oxygen” is already approved in the EU under PTs 2, 4, 5, and 11, and negotiations are expected to conclude in early summer 2026, HSE put the further evaluation of the ozone AS dossiers on hold until more information on the SPS agreement is available.

HSE is now ready to proceed with the evaluation of the application.

The HSE Specialist Teams have completed the initial 4-week check and requested on 27.02.2026 additional information concerning toxicity and efficacy.

The four ozone draft risk assessment reports (covering Product-Types 2, 4, 5, and 11) were successfully submitted to the HSE for further evaluation.
